When the exhaust temperature of the combustion system is high, an air preheater is recommended for use. The boiler air preheater works in areas where the fuel gas temperature is lower, absorbs the fuel gas heat, reduces the exhaust temperature, and improves boiler efficiency. As a result of the combustion air’s temperature increase, coal or other fuel burns more efficiently, and the amount of incomplete combustion loss is decreased.
According to the heating method, the air preheater can be divided into recuperative type and regenerative type. Tubular air heater is commonly used as recuperative air preheater. As the performance parameters and capacity of boiler increase, the heating surface of the tubular air heater will be enlarged. This results in big challenges on designing the structure of heating surface on the tail end. Therefore, rotary air pre-heater with compact structure and lightweight is widely used in the large capacity boiler units.
